1st Snow Flake

The first snow flake has fallen.
This is the first time we're actually witnessing it (although as of now we haven't gone out yet to touch it first hand).

We can't say we're that eager too because the wind is "crazy" strong - gusting at a high of 110 km/h.
That's almost double that on normal days (without snow). So for now, we're content of just watching it from inside.
Guess until about 2 hours from now when we have no choice but to head for class - then we'll know.

Weather report says it'll be as thick as 15 cm...

Who Moved Our Cheese?

Its not that its missing or what but there's just too many, we don't know where to begin.
Yes, we both love the all natural goodness of the dairy by-product - C H E E S E

If we're to leave this place (though not anytime soon), one thing we'll miss most is how easy it is to get good cheese over here and also the variety of them available is simply unimaginable.

We currently just purchased an array of cheese from our local friendly store, Pete's. We took the liberty to snap some of them.

Our favourite for now, is the 3 years ol' Caron brand cheddar cheese from Montreal. High on fats but it is really good especially with crackers.
The picture taken after we finish it all.

p.s. good thing about taking them now is that all the fats won't count much given the cold weather right now :) hehe

Here's from Cows brand (incidentally the same brand as the famous Ice-cream we took in Spring).

Also smoked type of cheese called, Smoked Gouda from Du Village (really gotta build up our knowledge on Cheese)

And finally we got ourselves another type of cheese, called Brie. I personally plan to use it on my sandwich, but will be looking for other recipes where I can use it.

And not too long ago, we also got freshly grated Parmesan from Pete's and used it mostly for our Spaghetti. Its really good compared to using the dry type of Parmesan. And the end product, combined with our home made meat balls were really out of this world - beats Italianis or TGI-Friday's anytime!!

here's me making the meatballs.

Sofa Bed

So our sofa bed has arrived not long ago. Finally we can have a real place to sit.

as usual, everything's made in China these days...

Health is Wealth

Today is a an eventful day.

First of all it is Halloween - so lots of people walking around in custome.
Secondly there's daylight savings for Nova Scotia, so by end of day (Oct 31), we'll have to reset our watches to 1 hr backwards. This means we'll be 12 hrs behind Malaysia instead of the normal 11 hrs we're familiar with.
3rd - Wife went to Pete's on here own (while I waited). Pete's have great discounts this week as its celebrating its 5 yrs in Spring Garden Rd. As a result our fridge is PACKED!

Lastly, its the first time I'm officially using my MSI card.
Yes I went to see the doctor. That's why wife went to get some veg and bread. Most of the things at home are meaty or either to be grilled.

Well I hope it would be the last (well except for Nov 19 which is the day both wife and I have booked an appointment for our H1N1 vaccination and influenza jab) time I'm using the card.

Its really troublesome to be sick here. Don't mention the fact that we do not drive, but even when you get to the clinic, you'll have to make sure that you have an appointment first. Of course, calling them is another issue - they hardly pick up the phone!!! Not to mention that certain doctors can be crap (fortunately the one that check me today wasn't). Then last but not least, medicine are not dispense at the clinic, but infact the pharmacy, so if you're lucky, clinic may be next to one, if not, you'll have to go find a pharmacy.

So, "health is wealth"...

Time to detox and be a vegetarian for a day or two... Nobody wants to go through being sick. Not even the caregiver (thanks wifey)....

6 Months Already...

Just want to take a short break to update our blog and say that it has been ½ a year since we arrive here in Canada.

And, supposing that we'll be here for another 4 ½ years, that means we have just completed 1/10 of our time here.

9/10 more to go...

p.s. We've just got our new sofa bed we ordered. Now we can relax in the living space when we're tired with sitting on the wooden chair.

Weird? You Tell Me.

We always read the weather forecast. Its important. Especially in Nova Scotia where the weather is always a little crazy at times.

Just like at this coming Friday's forecast.
