Cookies Revisited

Wifey baked cookies earlier. That was good. But this time, I helped out and we baked a different type which I personally find better. This one is the moist type compared to the previous one.

Well apart from the ecstatic outlook, the taste was good. Very generous with the chips which is always a plus point!

The Other Side Of Grooming

Its easy to go shave your beard. All you need is a shaver - be it manual type or an electronic one. I personally prefer the later as I do not have to waste too much time. Just look into the mirror and easy does it.

But when it comes to the hair at the top of your head, it is obviously not an easy feat - trying to cut it by yourself. You'll need more than 2 hands or an extra eye to do so.

So it's always easier to get help.

When I was smaller, it was a NIGHTMARE to bring me to a barber.

(This is definitely not me...)

I practically had to be strapped to the chair if not I'll murder the barber. But these days I'm very selective of who's cutting my hair and which style (at least on my account) it is.

Back at home before flying to Canada, I'll usually go to the mall barber - the one's that charge RM12 per cut (could be RM15 by now). They would at least listen to your concerns compared to the Mamak ones. Mamak barber has only one and only one style.

and that style is non other than the infamous "COCONUT" hair cut style.

I remember in school days when the new semester begins and when you first step into the classroom, you can tell who's been to a Mamak barber for a haircut (cause everyone has the exact type of haircut)!!!

That was then. Now after 2 months++ of not having a haircut (my frequency back in Mly was 1 and a half months once), I've finally caved in. Instead of having to pay CAD14 per hair cut (and this is just the normal barber, not stylist), both of us went to Walmart to purchase a "clipper" set (yes that's what you call it here).

We're now proud owners of a clipper set. But I believe that's mostly for me (to be use on) and for my wife to hone her barbering skills... (ahem ahem)...

Check it out.

and what's inside (comes with styling guide and manual too).

All in all, it costs CAD17.80

Now, for getting tips and learning some techniques in cutting hair, she's been turning to the internet. Here's a funny one from Videojug.

Chow!

Speakers

We finally bought speakers. Got a deal from Walmart for wireless speakers. Was going for 1/2 the actual price. CAD20 got us this fella below.

The signal transmitter that is connected to the PC and transmits the sound in FM.

It is connected to the PC via USB.

Here's the receiving end speaker that can be tuned in to receive the signal.

Oh yea, we've been using a jack to split our audio output to 2 separate earphones. Sigh... But that's the way it has been thus far.  Hopefully we could watch movies now without relying on the ear piece.

We have 30 days to try it and see if we like it. If not, we can always return it. That's the good thing about buying things here.

Foggy Morning

Good sunny days are never here to stay long. Wife took a shot of the outside view this early morning. This is how a typical early morning foggy day looks like.

But don't let the weather fool you. That does not mean you should stay at home. Either way, even when its sunny or clear outside, doesn't mean that you should go out too. Check the wind speed and the UV rating and you'll know why. Foggy days, almost certainly means there's no sun and therefore less UV rays - but chances of pour lingers. But sunny days brings in the threat of burning UV rays and sometimes windy streaks that send shivers down your spine.

Funny...

Union Strike In Toronto

Was surfing for information on our Toronto trip recently. Thought of going to Toronto Island as part of the itinerary and guess what? When I visited the website, www.centreisland.ca, I got this message below.

The city's Toronto Civic Employees' Union Local are on strike. And so lots of problems are arising from garbage not being picked up to public parks being not maintain and ferry services (like the one to Toronto Island) being closed.

Hopefully it is resolved before we get to Toronto.

Here are some news on the strike,

Sir Paul's Saturday Nite's Performance @ Halifax

Our squash session was too good, that we decided to rest for the day. So we had to miss out on the possibility of taking some shots of his performance from the outside. But trust the Internet. There's lots of other people who posted vids and shots of the performance already. Here are some,

Here's one taken in the afternoon.

Here's one taken when it was at night.
